Mahindra XEV.9e is in big trouble as Tata has unveiled crazily loaded SUV, they ever made!
Tata Motors has officially launched the much-anticipated Harrier EV in India at a starting price of Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). First showcased as a concept at the Auto Expo and later revealed in its production avatar at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the Harrier EV marks a new chapter in Tata’s electric vehicle lineup. It is the brand’s first all-wheel-drive model since the Safari Storme and offers a rugged electric SUV experience for adventure-focused buyers.
Updated Design and Dimensions
In terms of design, the Harrier EV closely resembles the facelifted ICE-powered Harrier, but comes with unique EV touches like a closed-off grille, a reworked front bumper, and EV-specific badging. The SUV also rides on new 19-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels. At the rear, it gets exclusive ‘Harrier.EV’ lettering on the tailgate.
Dimensionally, it is 2mm longer, and 22mm taller than the regular Harrier, although the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,741mm. Five colour options are available: Empowered Oxide, Nainital Nocturne, Pure Grey, Pristine White, and a special Stealth Edition with blacked-out elements.
Interior and Features
Inside, the cabin is premium and tech-loaded. A major highlight is the world’s first 14.5-inch Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and OTA support. It is paired with a fully digital instrument cluster featuring EV-specific graphics.
The Harrier EV also features a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, touch-based HVAC controls, a rotary drive mode selector, powered and ventilated front seats, and a 10-speaker JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos 5.1.
In terms of practicality, boot space is rated at 502 litres.
Off-Road Ready with New Drive Tech
This five-seater electric SUV is built for off-road enthusiasts with a dual-motor setup offering all-wheel drive capability. It features six terrain modes including Normal, Mud, Rock Crawl, Snow/Grass, Sand, and Custom. Boost mode enhances performance, while features like Transparent Mode, Off-Road Cruise Assist, and Auto Park Assist with Summon Mode elevate its rugged credentials.
Tata also offers a 540-degree surround camera with kerb impact alert, and the new DrivePay feature enables FASTag and EV charging payments without a mobile device.
