The upcoming 2nd Gen Kia Seltos has been spied testing once again, revealing new design elements and potential features. Following Kia’s latest ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, the new Seltos is set to make a bold statement, similar to the recently launched EV9 and Syros. The new-gen model is expected to launch by late 2025 or early 2026.

New Kia Seltos Exterior Highlights

The most recent spy shots from India showcase the front fascia with more clarity than before. Unlike earlier sightings with fabric camouflage, the latest test mule features a wrap camouflage, giving a clearer view of the new design elements.

One of the standout features is the thunderbolt-like LED DRL signature at the front, positioned vertically beside the rectangular headlights. The headlights themselves house three vertical LEDs, forming part of the DRL pattern. The concave grille, located between the headlights, adds a distinctive touch, while a centrally mounted radar module for ADAS is integrated into the lower air intake.

The spy images also hint at the omission of fog lights, consistent with the design seen on the recently revealed Carens Clavis. At the rear, a new LED strip connects the tail lamps, reminiscent of the EV5. Alloy wheels are likely to be 18 inches, similar to the current top-spec GT Line and X-Line variants.

Expected Interior Upgrades and Features

Though interior shots are yet to be revealed, the new Seltos is expected to feature significant cabin upgrades. Highlights may include a 30-inch Trinity Display as seen on the Syros, a redesigned dashboard, new upholstery, and advanced safety features. Comfort-oriented changes could include AC-infotainment swap screens, ventilated front and rear seats, sliding and reclining rear seats, and the new Double D-Cut 2-spoke steering wheel.

Engine Options and Hybrid Powertrain

The 2nd Gen Kia Seltos will continue with the current set of 1.5-litre engines:

  • 1.5L Naturally Aspirated Petrol (113 bhp, 144 Nm)

  • 1.5L Turbo Petrol (158 bhp, 253 Nm)

  • 1.5L Turbo Diesel (114 bhp, 250 Nm)

There are also speculations about the introduction of a hybrid powertrain. The hybrid version is expected to feature an electrified version of the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which may also power Kia’s upcoming 3-row SUV. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are likely to continue.

Launch Timeline and Market Positioning

While Kia India has not announced an official launch date, the new-gen Seltos is expected to debut by the end of 2025 or early 2026. It is likely to be positioned as a more premium offering, possibly sold alongside the current model. The new Seltos will compete with rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Tata Curvv.

The 2nd Gen Kia Seltos is poised to be a significant update, blending modern design cues with advanced features while retaining its robust engine lineup. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch approaches
