Citroen has just launched an new hatchback at Rs. 6.23 Lakh which brings new features and themes!

Citroën India has launched a new Sport Edition of its C3 hatchback in June 2025, aiming to breathe new life into the model amid lacklustre sales. This new iteration brings a sportier design theme and added features, while retaining the strong performance credentials that have been a standout trait of the C3. With a starting price of ₹6.23 lakh (ex-showroom), the C3 Sport Edition carries a price premium of ₹21,000 over its standard variants.

Design Changes in Sport Edition

The Citroën C3 Sport Edition introduces a brand-new Garnet Red body colour, which makes its debut in the C3 lineup. This shade enhances the sporty character of the hatchback and is expected to become available across other variants in the future. To differentiate the Sport Edition visually, the car features ‘SPORT’ decals on the sides and body panels. Inside, the cabin gets a thematic update with new seat covers, matching carpet mats, and seatbelt cushions, all following a sport-themed colour palette. Ambient lighting and brushed metal pedals further elevate the cabin’s sporty ambiance.

According to Citroën, the new edition is targeted at customers who value bold styling and exclusivity. The enhancements under the Sport Edition package are most likely dealer-installed, and based on previous experiences with Citroën’s special editions, customers might even be able to customise or negotiate individual elements.

 Still Offers Segment-Leading Performance

Mechanically, the C3 Sport Edition remains unchanged and is offered exclusively with the 1.2 L Turbo Petrol that deliver 109 bhp and 205 Nm of peak torque, giving the hatchback one of the highest power outputs in its class. The 0 to 100 kmph sprint is claimed at just 10 seconds, thanks to the potent engine and the availability of both a 6-speed manual and a proper 6-speed torque converter automatic—unlike many rivals in this segment that offer AMT gearboxes.

Optional Tech Kit Adds Wireless Charger and Dashcam

While the Sport Edition commands a ₹21,000 premium for its cosmetic enhancements, Citroën is also offering an optional Tech Kit at an additional ₹15,000. This kit includes a wireless phone charger and a dashcam, which are available across all variants and further enhance the practicality of the vehicle.

Speaking about the new launch, Kumar Priyesh, Business Head & Director – Automotive Brands, Stellantis India, stated:

“The Citroën C3 has always stood out with its unique styling and plush ride quality fused with performance, making it a compelling choice in the hatchback segment. The C3 Sport Edition brings more energy, tech, and thrill to a car already known for its bold design and ride quality.”

“With the addition of Garnet Red and sporty enhancements, [it] caters to a distinct generation of buyers who value individuality, class-leading performance, unmatched comfort and everyday practicality—reinforcing Citroën’s promise of accessible innovation and design-led appeal.”

A Push to Revive Sales Amid Market Challenges

Citroën has been facing a challenging period in India, with low monthly sales and high competition in the budget and compact car segments. The brand sold only 333 units in May 2025 despite launching new versions like the Dark Edition for multiple models and the CNG variant of the C3. Alongside new editions, Citroën also offered discounts of up to ₹2.8 lakh on its models in June to improve customer interest.

With the launch of the Citroën C3 Sport Edition, the company hopes to regain momentum by offering a more appealing and dynamic version of its hatchback. While the updates are mostly cosmetic, they aim to attract younger buyers looking for a stylish and powerful city car.
