Toyota is gearing up to expand its SUV lineup in India with three highly anticipated models. The Urban Cruiser EV will mark Toyota’s entry into the mass-market electric SUV space. Alongside, the next-gen Fortuner and an all-new 5-seater SUV to rival the Hyundai Creta are also in the pipeline.

1. Toyota Urban Cruiser EV

Expected Launch: Q1 2026

Toyota’s version of Maruti Suzuki’s eVitara is expected to launch before the end of this financial year, i.e. March 2026. While Exteriors look changes is restricted towards the front fascia, alloy wheels, and the rear profile, the interiors will look exactly the same as eVitara, only change will be the logo. Toyota will offer the same battery pack options of 49 and 61 kWh giving 500+ KMs range on single charge. Features-wise, it’ll be the same too like – Ventilated Seats, Powered Driver Seat, Dual 10-inch displays, big-size single-pane sunroof, ADAS, and so on. It’ll compete with the likes of Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and MG ZS EV.

2. New-Gen Toyota Fortuner

Expected Launch: Late 2026

Toyota has introduced mild-hybrid variants of the Fortuner, including both the standard and Legender 4×4 versions. The next-gen Fortuner will feature a major design overhaul, drawing styling cues from the globally sold Tacoma pickup. A new 2.0L turbo petrol engine producing over 200 BHP will replace the older 2.7L petrol unit, which was previously offered only with 4×2 variants. Expected New features such as dual 10.25-inch displays, panoramic sunroof, ADAS, more off-road features, Rear Sunblinds, 2nd row captain seats, Heated Seats, etc. Toyota is likely to unveil the next-gen Fortuner globally in 2026, with the India launch expected by late 2026.

3. Toyota’s new 5-Seater SUV

Expected Launch: Late 2025 – Early 2026

A test mule of Toyota SUV was spotted on the road which led to many believe it’s new 7-Seater XUV700-rivalling SUV, but it turns out it’ll be another 5-seater SUV, which will be slightly longer in dimensions over Maruti Brezza while sitting between the Taisor and the Hyryder in the segment. We expect to have features like front ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, 360 surround view camera, ADAS, 9-inch Infotainment System, Digital Cluster, etc. We don’t know how the SUV is going to look as it was completely camouflaged and only the rear profile was visible. Powertrains should be the same as the Hyryder. Expect Toyota to launch the SUV by this year end or probably in early 2026.
