Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall for 2,555 units of its Alto K10 due to a potential defect in the steering gearbox assembly. The automaker has advised customers to refrain from driving the affected vehicles until the part is inspected and replaced, as the defect could impact the car’s steerability.

Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall for the Alto K10, affecting 2,555 units. While Maruti has not specified the exact manufacturing dates of the faulty units, authorized dealerships will proactively reach out to customers for inspection. The recall has been prompted by a potential defect in the steering gearbox assembly, which could, in rare cases, impact the vehicle’s steerability and handling.
“The said defect, in a rare case, may affect the vehicle steerability,” Maruti said in an exchange filing. “Out of abundant caution, customers of the affected vehicles are advised not to drive or use the vehicle till the Part is replaced.” Customers are also encouraged to visit their nearest Maruti Suzuki service center for an inspection. If a defect is found, the faulty part will be replaced free of charge. The current-spec Alto K10 is priced between Rs 3.99 lakh and Rs 5.96 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Alto K10 is equipped with a 1.0 L 3 Cylinder K10C Petrol Engine delivering 65.71 BHP and 89 NM Torque mated to 5 Speed Manual and automatic gearbox; and another option is the 1.0 L Petrol CNG producing 55.92 BHP and 82.1 NM Torque with 5 Speed Manual Gearbox only.
The Alto K10 boasts amenities like a 7-inch infotainment, a analog instrument cluster with 3.2-inch TFT screen, steering-mounted controls, front power windows, and keyless entry. Its safety kit includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
