The sixth-generation 2026 Toyota RAV4 has made its global debut, introducing a major update with refreshed styling, fully electrified powertrains, enhanced dynamics, and a feature-loaded interior. Built on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, the new RAV4 continues its legacy as one of the world’s best-selling SUVs, now stronger in performance, design, and technology.
New Design
Toyota has reworked the RAV4’s exterior with a more dynamic appearance. The SUV now features angular LED headlamps, C-shaped LED taillamps integrated into a tinted rear bar, and a range of 17–20-inch alloy wheels. The body-coloured grille and trapezoidal wheel arches retain the rugged charm, while new trim-specific enhancements add a modern edge.
Buyers can choose from Core, Sport, and Rugged styling themes, along with GR Sport and Woodland Edition.
-
GR Sport: stands out with sport-tuned suspension, a 20mm wider rear track, unique spring and damper setup, aggressive body kit, 20-inch alloy wheels, and aluminium pedals.
-
Woodland Edition: geared for adventure with increased ground clearance, off-road tyres, extra LED lighting, and blacked-out styling elements.
Feature-Rich Interior
Inside, the 2026 RAV4 features a clean and modern layout with fewer physical buttons and more digital controls. All variants get a 12.3-inch digital driver display, while the infotainment system includes either a 10.5-inch or 12.9-inch touchscreen, powered by Toyota’s latest Arene OS. This interface brings smoother navigation, OTA updates, and advanced connectivity features.
The SUV also gets improved storage spaces, a toggle-style gear shifter (on select trims), optional JBL nine-speaker audio system, and materials like SofTex, Ultrasuede, and fabric depending on the variant. GR Sport models offer unique upholstery and design touches.
Toyota T-Mate safety suite is updated too, offering radar and camera-based enhancements. New features like Front Cross Traffic Alert, Secondary Collision Brake, and improved Pre-Collision System with better cyclist and motorcycle detection are standard across most trims.
Fully Electrified Powertrains with Upgraded Performance
The most significant update is under the hood — the 2026 Toyota RAV4 is now available only with hybrid and plug-in hybrid drivetrains.
- RAV4 Hybrid AWD now produces 233 bhp, offering improved power delivery and energy recovery.
- The Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) variant delivers up to 316 bhp (US) or 300 bhp (Europe) and features a new 22.7 kWh battery, enabling up to 100 km WLTP all-electric range.
- A new front-wheel-drive PHEV with 265 bhp joins the line-up for improved efficiency.
- The larger battery supports 50 kW DC fast charging (10–80% in around 30 minutes) and an 11 kW AC charger for quicker home charging.
Powertrains use an improved 2.5 L 4-cylinder petrol engine, enhanced cooling systems, upgraded inverters, and better thermal management. Regenerative braking is also optimised for plug-in variants, and all drivetrains benefit from revised electric motors and transaxles.
Improved Ride Quality and Chassis Tuning
Despite retaining the same TNGA-K platform, Toyota has reinforced the structure and reworked suspension mounts for a more rigid, balanced ride. GR Sport benefits from Gazoo Racing-developed suspension and steering tuning, promising sportier handling and cornering confidence.
All variants now offer improved weight distribution and a refined AWD system, enhancing traction during quick accelerations and lane changes.
Launch Timeline and Expected Price
