Hyundai plans to launch 26 new models which is a big thing to announce and could leave huge pressure on its rivals like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors.

Hyundai Motors has announced an ambitious plan to launch 26 new models between the current fiscal year and FY2030. The lineup will include 20 internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and 6 electric vehicles (EVs), featuring a mix of all-new models, facelifts, and next-generation upgrades. This move is aimed at strengthening Hyundai’s position in the Indian market amid increasing competition from Tata Motors and Mahindra.

Hyundai’s Aggressive Product Strategy

Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL, stated that the company is committed to innovation and addressing market demands with this aggressive rollout. The upcoming models will not only include ICE vehicles but also focus on eco-friendly solutions such as hybrids. The product lineup will cover various segments, including SUVs, which continue to gain popularity.

Hyundai’s strategy comes in response to a slight dip in market share, as homegrown brands like Tata and Mahindra are rapidly expanding, especially in the SUV and EV categories. To counter this, Hyundai aims to deepen customer engagement and reinforce brand appeal through new launches and enhanced features.

Upcoming Models and Key Focus Areas

Among the upcoming models, the next-generation Hyundai Venue is expected to arrive by the end of this year, featuring significant design updates and added features. Other notable launches include the next-gen Creta, a new hybrid SUV positioned between the Alcazar and Tucson, and a facelift for the Creta Electric. The company also plans to update its existing models like the Grand i10 Nios and i20.

Hyundai is also working on localizing production for upcoming EV models and enhancing charging infrastructure. The positive response to the recently launched Creta Electric has further motivated the brand to introduce more EVs in India. Additionally, the global Inster EV-based small electric SUV is expected to debut next year, along with the mid-life update of the Creta Electric by 2027.

Balancing ICE and Electrification

Hyundai’s dual strategy aims to maintain its strong ICE portfolio while capitalizing on the growing demand for electrification. Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai Motor India, confirmed the introduction of strong hybrids to align with India’s evolving automotive landscape. With the launch blitz targeting multiple segments and price points, Hyundai is determined to maintain its leadership position in the competitive Indian market.

By reinforcing its product lineup and focusing on both ICE and EV models, Hyundai aims to maintain its position as the second-largest car manufacturer in India while tackling the growing competition from local brands.
