Design Updates and Spy Shots
Kia’s camouflaged prototype of the redesigned Telluride were recently spotted during testing for 2026. From the spy images, it’s evident the SUV will retain its silhouette, styling cues – including a similarly shaped grille with a fresh mesh pattern akin to the current model. Additionally, previous spy shots of Telluride shows a new dual vertically-positioned thin line LED DRLs with same style for the tail-lamps at rear which will be connected by LED strip. However, sharper lines are noticeable, particularly where the A-pillar meets the roof. On the side, we can new bigger size alloys which are likely 18-inches that houses the same design as the mid-spec variants of Syros. The rear section appears boxier, moving away from the rounded design of the existing version.
While interior details remain undisclosed, the upcoming Telluride is expected to feature a single 30-inch trinity panoramic display, similar to the EV9.
New Powertrain Options
The Telluride sold in US is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 producing 287 bhp, available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive system. However, the 2026 model is expected to introduce an Hybrid Powertrain for the first time.
According to Kia America’s Vice President of Marketing, Russell Wager, the company is considering either a conventional hybrid or a plug-in hybrid system. However, Kia will not offer both options, as seen in some of its past models. This move aligns with Kia’s broader electrification strategy and could enhance the Telluride’s efficiency and appeal in the evolving SUV market.
Telluride’s Strong U.S. Sales
Since its launch, the Kia Telluride has been a top performer in the U.S. market, averaging almost 100,000 units sold annually. In 2024, it achieved a record-breaking sales figure of 115,504 units, highlighting its strong demand. The upcoming model aims to maintain this momentum, ensuring the Telluride remains competitive against newer rivals, including electric SUVs like the Kia EV9.
Will it Launch in India?
At the moment, there are no official plans from Kia to launch the Telluride in India and it’s unlikely we’ll see the SUV in India any time soon.
