New Ertiga rival has been confirmed to launch on May 8th which would have so many features that it could give HyCross a run for its money!

Kia India will unveil the updated Carens MPV on May 8, 2025. Unlike a typical facelift, this version is positioned as a more premium offering that will not replace the current model but be sold alongside it. This approach allows Kia to target a wider audience, from budget-conscious buyers to those seeking a tech-laden, SUV-inspired MPV.

Design and Styling Updates

The 2025 Kia Carens facelift gets a refreshed design that brings it in line with Kia’s latest global styling cues. Spy shots have revealed a bolder and more SUV-like appearance, which includes revised LED headlamps and DRLs, vertically stacked LED tail-lamps connected by a full-width light bar, and redesigned bumpers. The silhouette remains the same, but the cleaner design lines give it a sharper and more upmarket look. The new alloy wheels and slim front grille further enhance its road presence.

This updated Carens takes cues from newer Kia models like the Syros and is designed to appeal to buyers who prefer a more striking and modern appearance in an MPV format.

Interior Enhancements

While the overall interior layout is expected to remain familiar, the cabin of the facelifted Carens will get several enhancements to increase its premium feel. A revised dashboard design and centre console will be among the changes, along with new upholstery and trim options. Kia is also likely to offer fresh colour combinations to distinguish this version from the standard Carens.

In terms of features, the updated Carens will include advanced equipment such as Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree surround view camera for added safety and convenience. The MPV will also offer dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and the digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging with cooling, 64-colour ambient lighting, an integrated dashcam with dual cameras, a smart air purifier, and an 8-speaker Bose audio system. These additions aim to elevate the in-cabin experience for families and tech-savvy users.

Powertrain Options

Mechanically, the new Carens will continue to be powered by the existing engine options. These include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Transmission choices will remain the same as well, including manual, iMT, DCT, and torque converter automatic gearboxes, depending on the engine variant.

Price, Positioning, and Rivals

The facelifted Kia Carens will be positioned above the current model, with pricing expected to start higher and cross Rs 20 lakh for top-end variants. This new version will expand Kia’s MPV range and give customers more flexibility in choosing a variant that fits their needs and budget.

While the current Carens is priced between Rs 10.60 lakh and Rs 19.70 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated model is expected to command a premium due to its added features and design upgrades. Rivals will include the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti XL6, and Toyota Rumion, while the higher trims could also compete with three-row SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus.

Kia’s decision to launch a more premium Carens alongside the existing model reflects its strategy to strengthen its foothold in the growing MPV segment with a broader range of offerings.
