With only five months left until the launch of the electric version of the Hyundai Creta, the SUV was recently spotted camouflaged at a charging station in South Korea.

Hyundai will be introducing the electric version of the Creta with subtle changes to both the exterior and interior. This new EV will retain the features of the ICE version while also incorporating new elements to maintain a competitive edge over its rivals.

Exterior Design

The Hyundai Creta EV retains the striking design elements of the ICE Creta Facelift with key updates that distinguish it as an electric vehicle. The front features a closed-off grille, redesigned bumpers, LED positioning lamps, DRLs, and sequential turn indicators. The more upright front hood gives it a bold stance. The side profile remains largely unchanged but now includes new aero-efficient 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the Creta EV boasts connected LED tail-lamps, sequential turn indicators, and an aerodynamic spoiler for a sleek finish.

Interior Features

The interior of the Hyundai Creta EV impresses with its modern and seamless design. Dual 10.25-inch displays serve as the digital cluster and infotainment system. The steering wheel, inspired by the latest Kona electric SUV, features Hyundai’s new logo for electric vehicles. A notable change is the relocation of the drive selector to the steering column from the center console. Other interior elements remain consistent with the ICE version, ensuring a familiar yet modern feel.

Battery Specifications

Powered by a 45 kWh battery pack from LG Chem, the Hyundai Creta EV targets a range between 450 – 500 KM. However, real-world conditions may yield a practical range of 250 – 300 km. The SUV is equipped with a regenerative braking system and fast-charging capabilities similar to the Hyundai IONIQ 5, allowing it to charge from 10–80% in just 21 minutes with an ultra-fast charger.

Advanced Features

The Hyundai Creta EV is packed with modern amenities to enhance comfort and safety. These include front ventilated seats, a 360 Surround View Camera, Level 2 ADAS, a powered driver seat, dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, a panoramic sunroof, Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold, Bose Sound System, and Hill Descent Control. Additionally, heated front seats are expected to provide extra comfort in colder climates.

Price and Launch Date

The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to be priced between Rs. 20 – Rs. 25 lakhs. Slated for a January 2025 launch, it will compete with the likes of the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Tata Curvv EV. Other competitors, such as the Maruti eVX and Toyota Urban EV, are also expected to enter the market around the same time, making the compact electric SUV segment more exciting and competitive.
