Mahindra has launched new automatic SUV which is their most affordable model in their line-up!

Mahindra has expanded the Scorpio N lineup by introducing an automatic gearbox option to the Z4 trim, making it the most affordable automatic variant in the SUV’s range. The petrol Z4 AT is priced at Rs 17.39 lakh while the diesel Z4 AT comes in at Rs 17.86 lakh (ex-showroom). These prices undercut the previous automatic entry variants – Z6 Diesel AT at Rs 18.91 lakh and Z8 Select Petrol AT at Rs 19.06 lakh – offering a price advantage of Rs 1.05 lakh and Rs 1.67 lakh respectively.

Mahindra Scorpio N Z4: Engine Specs

The Z4 trim continues to offer both petrol and diesel engine options without any mechanical changes. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor produces 200 bhp and 370 Nm of torque in manual form, while the torque goes up slightly to 380 Nm with the automatic gearbox. The diesel variant uses a 2.2-litre mHawk engine delivering 172 bhp and 370 Nm in manual, and 400 Nm in automatic.

There is also a lower-spec diesel tune offering 130 bhp and 300 Nm torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. While both petrol and diesel versions come with a rear-wheel-drive setup, the Z4 Diesel MT variant also gets the option of a 4WD configuration.

Features on Offer

The Scorpio N Z4 is offered in a seven-seater layout, featuring a range of modern comforts and functional equipment. It comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other notable features include LED turn indicators on ORVMs, power steering with tilt function, engine start/stop, second-row AC vents, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and power windows.

The cabin also includes a multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, second-row one-touch tumble function, third-row fold and tumble seats, and USB charging ports. Exterior design highlights include 17-inch steel wheels with covers, dual-beam halogen headlights, black-finished sky rack, rear spoiler, and vertically stacked LED tail lamps.

In terms of safety, the Z4 trim is equipped with dual front airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock braking system with EBD, hill hold control, hill descent control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors, and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers. It also includes ventilated disc brakes at both front and rear along with seat belt reminders and pretensioners.

Final Thoughts

The Z4 variant however misses out on some premium features found in higher variants such as a sunroof, dual-zone climate control, Sony sound system, Alexa connectivity, ventilated seats, and advanced safety features like tyre pressure monitoring system, driver drowsiness detection, and auto-dimming IRVM.

With the addition of the automatic transmission to the Z4 trim, Mahindra has successfully made the Scorpio N more accessible for a wider audience. This move not only strengthens its position in the midsize SUV segment but also offers a compelling value-for-money proposition for buyers looking for a rugged yet comfortable family SUV with the convenience of an automatic.
