This Creta-rival is set to shake the Indian Compact SUV Segment in a big way, by introducing major generational update!

The next-generation Kia Seltos will debut a bold new design, upgraded features, and hybrid powertrains. Set for an India launch in 2026, it aims to reclaim its position in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment.

What will be the Changes?

The upcoming Kia Seltos will feature a more rugged and upright front-end design, following Kia’s latest Opposites United philosophy. It is expected to get a redesigned grille inspired by Kia’s larger SUVs, while the headlamps will be vertically stacked LED units that give the SUV a sharper and more aggressive look. At the rear, the Seltos will sport sleeker, vertically oriented LED taillights, similar to the design seen on Kia’s electric SUV range. Other changes will likely include updated bumpers, new alloy wheels, and slight adjustments to the proportions, giving the SUV a boxier and stronger appearance.

Although there are no interior images yet, Kia is expected to revamp the cabin with a redesigned dashboard, a more premium center console, and better material quality across the interior. The next-gen Seltos is also likely to come with a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and infotainment system, and improved connectivity features. Over-the-air software updates and new advanced driver-assist technologies are also expected to be part of the new model’s package.

Will there be same Powertrains?

Kia will continue offering the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbo-petrol, and 1.5L diesel engines in India. A new 1.6L hybrid powertrain will also be introduced, similar to the ones in the Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro. This self-charging hybrid system is expected to improve fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Additionally, Kia is reportedly working on an e-AWD hybrid system, which, if launched, would make the Seltos the first hybrid SUV in its segment with all-wheel drive, enhancing traction and performance in various conditions.

What about the Features?

The Seltos is equipped with features such as Dual-Zone Climate control, front ventilated seats, heads-up display, panoramic sunroof, powered driver seat, rear sunblinds, and so much more. But it’ll be now even better as Kia is expected offer Seltos with new features –

  1. Rear Ventilated Seats
  2. Powered Tailgate
  3. Co-Driver Powered Seat
  4. More ADAS Functions

Final Thoughts

Production of the next-generation Kia Seltos is set to begin in South Korea in August 2025, with a global debut expected in January 2026. The India launch is likely to take place in the second half of 2026. With declining sales despite the 2023 facelift, Kia will be aiming for a strong comeback with the new-generation Seltos. In India, it rivals the Hyundai Creta, Tata Curvv, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota UC Hyryder, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Citroen Basalt.
