Volkswagen India has achieved a significant milestone with the Volkswagen Virtus crossing the 50,000 domestic sales units mark, further cementing its position as India’s most sought-after premium sedan of 2024. This achievement comes just 28 months after its market debut, reflecting the sedan’s growing popularity and sustained sales momentum in a competitive segment.

Consistent Sales Performance Since Launch
Since its launch in 2022, the Volkswagen Virtus has maintained a consistent sales trajectory, averaging 60 units sold per day. This year alone, the sedan has sold over 17,000 units as of October 2024, making it the best-selling premium sedan in India for the calendar year.
Volkswagen India also reported that the brand’s India 2.0 models, including the Virtus and the Taigun SUV, collectively achieved 1,00,000 domestic sales by the second quarter of 2024.
New Editions Boosted Festive Demand
To further capitalize on festive season demand, Volkswagen introduced the Virtus GT Line and Virtus GT Plus Sport editions. These enhanced variants aim to maintain the brand’s excitement and offer new-age customers more sporty and premium options.
The Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus holds a national record for 24-Hour Endurance Drive, covering a maximum distance of 4,654.48 km within 24 hours, showcasing both its reliability and performance under challenging conditions.

Speaking on this achievement, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, expressed gratitude to customers for making the Virtus India’s No. 1 premium sedan. “Crossing the 50,000 sales mark is a testament to the product’s success and the trust our customers have placed in us,” Gupta said.
The brand also reached a broader milestone by surpassing 6.5 lakh domestic wholesale units by the end of Q3 2024, with the Virtus and Taigun models contributing to 18.5% of domestic sales within just three years since their market introduction.
